Hair Gel, Does it Actually Work?
Hair Gel, the standard for all spiky hairdo’s. Don’t get me wrong, when using gel it will hold and literally keep your hair standing or flat. But we all know how gel feels by the way it hardens, the plastic feel and how bad it is for your hair if you forget to wash it out. It’s without a question, a “NO” in my books.
But What If..
Gel could be used for your hair to make it look good? Now in our community, using gel is the devil and considered a noobie product. No one would dare use gel in the community, neither would I. But Joe’s got some good points on how gel could be used in a different light.
Gel glides in your hair super easy so it has a great application. Joe mentions it as pre-styler, simply add a small amount of gel and blow dry it. Adding a small amount wont make your hair too stiff and blow drying it can achieve some great volume. It’s similar to a hair mouse, light weight and provides a good amount of volume. But mouse can be a bit more messy and expensive than hair gel.
Gel can be a great product to lay down any sections that don’t want to listen. Fly aways, cowlicks, you name it. Gel can tame those pesky areas of hair. Joe uses it to flatten his sides and control any stray hairs from the back of the head. The most important thing to remember is to use a little bit, not too much. Once you use too much the characteristics of gel we all hate start to become apparent.
Pretend it’s a hairspray
What does hairspray do? It basically locks your hair in place and gives it an extra hold to keep your style lasting all day. But hairspray creates this mask that freezes your hair, making it feel more crispy and harder than usual. The great thing about gel is that you only need to use a small amount and works just as good as hairspray, if not better.
Cheap and Easy to wash out
If you need an extra boost in your style gel is quite cheap and easily accessible through drug stores. Don’t forget to wash the gel out because it is definitely one of those products you need to get out of your hair. The plus side is that it’s super easy to wash out with water.
